British Olympic skier Stuart Fitzsimmons has died on the age of 62.

Fitzsimmons, a four-time nationwide champion who competed on the 1976 Winter Olympics in Innsbruck, died of pneumonia in his hometown Edinburgh on Monday.

After retiring from snowboarding, the Scot labored as a cameraman for iconic BBC tv programme Ski Sunday.

Commentator Konrad Bartelski, additionally an Olympic skier, mentioned Fitzsimmons helped put the programme “on the map”.

“The world has simply misplaced some of the memorable folks and one with whom I used to be lucky sufficient to share such nice instances,” he wrote.

“My honest due to ‘Fitzi’ for making us all smile and snort a lot.”

Canadian two-time Olympian Ken Learn wrote:
